Our LGBTQ Interest Group preserves and further cultivates our congregation’s designation as an official Unitarian Universalist “Welcoming Congregation,"  striving to uphold the inherent worth and dignity of all persons, regardless of sexual orientation and/or gender identity/expression, within our congregation, our community, and beyond.

New friends are always welcome at our meetings.  Please email the church office HERE for more information.

The LGBTQ Interest Group:

  • Encourages the congregation to celebrate differences of all types;

  • Educates the church community about LGBTQ issues and concerns;

  • Advocates for causes related to LGBTQ individuals and their families;

  • Raises funds and provides volunteer support for OUT MetroWest, a 501(c)(3) organization that was founded in our congregation;

  • Sponsors LGBTQ-themed movie nights once a month for the Metrowest community (click HERE for more information and a film schedule).

 Are you still struggling to understand this new and evolving world of gender identity?  Please join us on Saturday, April 27, for a pizza dinner, followed by a showing of “Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric.” This 2017 documentary explores the differences between gender and sexual orientation, gender expression and gender identity, and illuminates some of our new understanding of the role of genes and hormones and gender confirmation surgery.  After the movie, Noah Augustine, a member of the trans community (and Board member of OUT MetroWest), will share some of his own experiences and will answer questions.

6:00 p.m. Pizza and salad
6:30 p.m. “Gender Revolution: A Journey with Katie Couric”
8:00 p.m.  Presentation by Noah Augustine, a member of the trans community
8:30 p.m.  End of formal program

 Please rsvp to our office, info@uuwellesley.org or (781) 235-7423, by Wednesday, April 24.
