GET READY FOR RUMMAGE: SATURDAY, MARCH 25, 2017!
We need you! Rummage 2017 is just around the corner. As always, many hands make like work, so please put Sorting Sunday, March 19th, on your calendars as well as any day through to the 25th, the day of the SALE. Any time you can offer during that week to stop in to help sort and organize is greatly appreciated. We promise a chance to get to know each other, to make new friends, and to reconnect with old friends.
You can sign up for a specific department, or just help where needed. On Sorting Sunday, we need all sorts of help to get the sale set up: cooks, set-up crew, sorters, and, of course, people to organize the departments for sale.
We will have a schedule for working during the week, and will have a Rummage Committee member on site most days and every evening, so there will be lots of opportunity to help during the week. On March 25, the day of the sale, we need all members and friends of the church who possibly can to help during the sale and with clean up.
We are setting up the Activity Room as storage for donations from anyone who is moving or cannot store donations until sorting Sunday. Access can be arranged by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or calling the church office (781-235-7423); please pre-sort your donations, and put them in the designated areas in the Activity Room.
Presorting is always a tremendous help, so as you collect things for the sale, please separate your donations by these categories:
- Clothing (men's, women's, and children's)
- Housewares, furniture and electronics
- Kitchenware and china
- Sporting goods
- Toys and games
Our enormous success last year was largely due to the many wonderful donations we received. Please keep up this momentum! Please go through your closets and cabinets for the things you can let go, and please also reach out to your family and friends – they just might be willing to support this environmentally-friendly community project by making their own donations to the sale. We will take all types of things, provided they’re in good condition and not obsolete (unfortunately we don't have room for large furniture except antiques and valuable pieces).
Many of us have found volunteering for the Rummage Sale to be a great way to get to know others in the congregation. We make that a goal of the sale, so please watch for the final schedule, there will be many opportunities to socialize during Rummage Week.
