Camp Starfish, located in Rindge, NH, is a unique summer camp for children with emotional and behavioral challenges. UU Wellesley has had an on-going, supportive connection with the camp, providing hands-on assistance to improve its buildings and grounds, as well as funds to upgrade its facilities.
For many years now, our youth have traveled to Starfish for an overnight service-learning experience; UU Wellesley adults and children join them for a full service day on Saturday. We work with the Starfish staff to prepare for the next camp season, helping to make their creative ideas a reality. In the process, we have developed new skills, had a lot of fun, and forged stronger bonds. The experience has become a meaningful retreat for all involved. This year's Camp Starfish Day Trip will be on 9/22/18. Youth and adult chaperones are invited to meet at the church after school on Friday, September 21 to carpool up to NH for an overnight. As always, friends of UU Wellesley youth are most welcome. Both day-trippers and overnight youth or chaperones, may sign-up online here.
For overnight youth, please read and sign the covenant (please note that the packing list is included on that page too) and complete the permission form with your parent or guardian. Email the church office HERE for more information.
