Every week following our Sunday worship service, members of our congregation head from the Sanctuary to our Parish Hall for coffee, tea, snacks, and conversation. When the weather is warmer, we hold Fellowship Hour outside in our lovely courtyard. Adult volunteers and UU Wellesley Hills staff act as hosts. Fellowship Hour offers the opportunity for conversation on an unlimited number of topics. There are special greeters who reach out to visitors to insure that all feel welcome. Fellowship Hour generally runs from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, and includes both children and adults.
Deep connections are often forged during social activities outside of regular Sunday hours. Potluck dinners offer visitors and new members a chance to get to know church members and learn more about our congregation, while enjoying great food. All are welcome at periodic Crafts & Conversation gatherings, where we work on individual crafts (knitting, rug hooking, quilting, weaving, mending, among others) and enjoy pleasant conversation. Working on a craft is always optional--some just come for conversation.
Soup with Friends brings the older members of our congregation together several times a year for conversation and lunch. The group enjoys a half hour discussion led by our minister, followed by a lunch of soup, cheese, bread, and dessert cooked and served by a group of “kitchen elves.” The elves, who are younger adult volunteers, build connections while working and eating together in the kitchen. The older participants enjoy being served and connecting with one another in our Parish Hall.
Circle Suppers strengthen our common connections and allow us to just have fun together. We sponsor Circle Suppers in the fall, winter, and spring. Volunteer supper hosts welcome 6-8 assigned guests to their homes for a potluck dinner on a particular Saturday night. The hosts provide the main courses, and guests are asked to bring something simple like a salad, side dish, or dessert. These are meant to be very informal get togethers, bringing friends, newcomers, and members of the congregation together to share food and get better acquainted.
